Hood 110 spare wheel
« on: July 04, 2016, 03:34:54 PM »
Hi everybody,

I'll be in England and Scotland next summer.

Can you tell me where I can find a car scrap yard for Defenders ? I'm searching for a white hood (300TDI) where I can put a spare whell on it.

On my TD5 it's not possible.

Thanks

Pascal

Hi Pascal,

A 300TDi bonnet, with spare wheel well and fittings will not fit on a TD5, as the engine is too tall.

The Front Runner kit works on a TD5 bonnet fine though. I have one on my V8 bonnet, as it's easier to find than the factory type, as well as cheaper. It works fine.

Here it is without the spare wheel mounted, in order that you can see how it all fits above the bonnet, with little or no protrusion below in the engine compartment.

Something wrong with pic loading. I'll get on to that.

That giraffe picture was taken by a very good friend and better photog than I, Alan. We've been friends since we grew up in the same suburb, we go back a bit more than 50 years.

He was in another Defender following in Moremi reserve in the Okavango Delta in Botswana in 2005 and took the pic leaning out of the rear right door. He has given me permission to use it when needed, so here it is again for you  :up
